How Alpha Gamma Rho Raised $15,000 for E3 Ranch Foundation
When members of Alpha Gamma Rho at the University of Arkansas set out to make a difference, they didn’t just organize another campus event — they created a movement that raised $15,000 for E3RF and brought their campus community together.
At the center of that success was Wingfest, a philanthropy event that combined great food, live music, and a meaningful cause. But according to Alpha Gamma Rho’s Philanthropy Chair, the event’s impact went far beyond fundraising.
“We want to make better men,” he explained. “Being involved with an organization that’s fighting the better fight allows our members to be part of something bigger than themselves.”
Why E3 Ranch Foundation?
When Alpha Gamma Rho began searching for a philanthropic partner, E3RF stood out because of its mission to support combat veterans, combat sex trafficking and provide humanitarian aid worldwide.
“Our values align closely with E3RF’s mission,” the Philanthropy Chair said. “We have members who are active-duty military and volunteer firefighters. Being able to support people who are actively serving and protecting others really resonates with our chapter.”
The Wingfest Formula
Wingfest was built around a simple idea: create an event that people genuinely wanted to attend while supporting a meaningful cause. For a $10 entry fee, students received all- you-can-eat wings, live music, and the opportunity to support E3RF’s mission. Every fraternity member either secured sponsorships or personally contributed to the fundraising effort. The event’s success wasn’t accidental.
“We advertised heavily, but word of mouth was huge,” the Philanthropy Chair said. “We presented to other organizations across campus, and both IFC and Panhellenic helped spread the word.”
The chapter intentionally connected with fraternities, sororities, and student organizations throughout the university, transforming Wingfest into a campus-wide event rather than a single fraternity fundraiser.
Changing the Narrative Around Greek Life
The success of Wingfest reflects a broader shift happening on college campuses. As students increasingly seek meaningful ways to serve their communities, philanthropy has become a defining part of the Greek life experience
“Fraternities sometimes get a bad reputation,” the Philanthropy Chair acknowledged. “But philanthropy gives people the opportunity to see the positive impact we’re making in our communities.”
He noted that prospective members are paying attention. “We’ve seen a huge difference in recruitment because of philanthropy events.” Being able to show what we do for others is something that sets a fraternity apart. For Alpha Gamma Rho, service isn’t just a chapter activity — it’s an opportunity to develop character, leadership, and purpose.
Building Partnerships That Matter
One of the aspects the chapter appreciated most about working with E3RF was the personal relationship. “Why partner with some huge organization when you can have a personal relationship with a cause?” the Philanthropy Chair said.
He encourages other Greek organizations to consider partnerships with nonprofits where members can directly connect with the mission and the people behind it. “I typically get a response within a couple of days, and there are so many opportunities to get involved with E3 Ranch Foundation,” he said.
Looking ahead, he believes partnerships like this will continue to grow as more students seek opportunities to make a lasting impact. “A lot of guys and girls would love to get behind this cause,” he said. “In the future, this will prove to be one of the most beneficial things we’ll ever do.”
